Southland Regional Association of REALTORS® is governed by a Board of Directors and various committees made up of volunteer members of the Association. Below is a list of the committees, along with a full description of their purpose. If you are interested in serving on a committee, and are a member in good standing with SRAR, applications are made available in the fall for the following year. Once your application is received and reviewed, committee appointments are made by the incoming President of the Association.
AFFILIATES COMMITTEE

Committee responsibility:
To promote and support affiliates in routine real estate activity by providing outreach to real estate professionals of diverse cultural backgrounds to join the Association. The Affiliates Committee interfaces with all Association committees on special projects.
BYLAWS COMMITTEE

Committee Responsibility:
To review and recommend Bylaw amendments. The Bylaws are the primary authority for Association action.
COMMERCIAL/INVESTMENT COMMITTEE

Committee Responsibility:
To support members involved in the commercial real estate field by developing educational and marketing opportunities; also oversees the content and marketing of the Association’s Commercial Real Estate Exchange site,

EDUCATION COMMITTEE

Committee Responsibility:
To establish, through planning and a visionary processes, the future educational initiatives for SRAR membership including both D.R.E and informational-only seminars; to encourage cooperative educational efforts with NAR, CAR, various local associations, institutes and councils, state and other industry-related organizations; to provide opportunities for presentations and idea sharing relating to new technologies, trends, and general real estate best-practices.
EQUAL OPPORTUNITY CULTURAL DIVERSITY COMMITTEE

Committee Responsibility:
To discuss, share ideas and innovative approaches regarding fair housing, cultural diversity and diversity in leadership; to present fair housing information and training opportunities; to provide educational opportunities related to fair housing and cultural diversity; and to discuss concerns and suggestions related to equal opportunity and cultural diversity.
EVENTS & COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMITTEE

To plan and promote a variety of projects and events related to real estate for members; to promote community involvement through projects designed to educate and build community awareness; to promote SRAR and its members through events, special projects and involvement within the community.
GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS COMMITTEE

Committee Responsibility:
To take positions and offer input on legislative matters, environmental and community issues that are of concern to property owners and REALTORS® with primary emphasis on local issues; to develop and maintain close relationships with legislators representing the San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valleys through frequent meetings and correspondence. Special emphasis should be placed on local (City/County) legislators; to assist in the legislative process by suggesting legislation, attending public meetings and encouraging the appointment of members to City and County advisory committees and councils; to educate the membership in governmental affairs and encourage REALTORS® to take an active and effective role in politics; evaluate candidates, in the Association's jurisdiction, for local, state and federal offices and make recommendations to CREPAC and BORPAC, thereupon.
GRIEVANCE COMMITTEE

To review complaints from members and the public to determine whether a formal hearing is warranted. To serve as a member of the Grievance Committee, you must have been a member of the SRAR for a minimum of two years.
HOUSING & COMMUNITY OUTREACH COMMITTEE

Committee Responsibility:
To develop and implement programs and seminars to educate the public consumer on the home-buying process; to identify and seek solutions to barriers of homeownership, such as financing and credit solutions; to develop cohesive partnerships for creating a favorable environment to affordable housing; to participate in community outreach programs which create goodwill and positive publicity for our membership.
MULTIPLE LISTING COMMITTEE

Committee Responsibility:
To maintain the data integrity of the CRISNet MLS system; responsible for the Hearing panels which enforce the MLS Rules and Data Integrity Standards; works with the CARETS Rules committee to maintain the common rules and enforcement for all CARETS MLS’ and Associations.
PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS COMMITTEE

Committee Responsibilities:
To provide panelists for disciplinary action or arbitration, in accordance with the Professional Standards Rules. Participation requires special training and two years of previous experience on the Grievance Committee.
RISK MANAGEMENT/REDUCTION COMMITTEE

To provide a forum to identify trends and issues that may be, or are putting REALTORS® and/or their clients at risk; to educate REALTORS® and to provide information to aide in avoiding professional risk factors.

To provide members of similar levels of experience in the real estate profession and social interests, a forum to network and discuss business related issues and increase awareness of SRAR benefits and activities to new members; to plan and recommend activities and educational programs that are designed to increase membership participation, education and mentorship opportunities.
